Painting 2: Autumn Colourburst
In this lesson colour takes centre stage. I use a wide range of colours across the palette to create a vibrant autumn forest while maintaining harmony and unity throughout the painting. You’ll see how even very colourful scenes can remain balanced and cohesive.
Painting 3: Bright Beauty
In this painting demonstration we create a colourful birch forest scene filled with dramatic light. For this piece I work exclusively with water-soluble oils without using an acrylic underpainting, showing how the painting can be built directly in oils while still achieving vibrant colour and strong light effects.
Painting 4: Golden Moment
This demonstration explores the power of restraint. Using a more limited palette and a subtle gradation of blues in the sky, we create a calm, luminous scene where the light and composition take the lead.
Painting 5: Lake Baptiste Sparkle
One of my favourite subjects—sunrise over a frozen lake seen through a screen of birch trees. The interplay of light, reflections, and branches creates a sparkling, mosaic-like effect that captures the magic of early morning light.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it matter what medium I use or what subject matter I paint?
I use water soluble oils in this demonstration but you can use acrylics, traditional oils, gouache or ANY opaque paint medium. You will just need to adapt to the different drying times and ignore the instructions specific to the water soluble oil mediums.
