If you are a serious artist in the 21st Century, it is absolutely essential that you have a working knowledge of digital photography and in particular how to edit your digital images. Whether you are using digital images to paint from, for social media posts or to archive images of your paintings… digital images are a fact of life in the 21st Century.
As an artist we have some very specific needs that are quite different from the needs of the typical photographer. Most photographers strive to produce perfect photographs with the idea of producing a perfect print as a final product. We do not need to do that. We need to produce photos that we can create spectacular paintings from. That is a very different proposition and requires a very different approach to editing our digital photos.
We also need to be able to create accurate photos of our paintings, whether that is just for the purpose of archiving our body of work, or to actually produce reproductions of our work.
And finally we need to produce images for the internet… whether that be images of our paintings for a website or images suitable for the various social media platforms.
In this course, using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom I will explain how to get the most out of all of your digital images. I will show you how to turn what look like failed photos into spectacular images to paint from. How to capture accurate images of your paintings and I will explain the ins and outs of the various file types… JPEGs, TIFFs, PSDs, HDRs and PNGs as well as when you would want to use each of them.
I will also show you how to get the most out of your smartphone photos using the app Camera Plus.
If you are tired of taking photos of spectacular scenes, only to end up with with ho hum photos… if you have trouble taking accurate photos of your paintings… if you are confused about the types of digital files available and when you should use them… then this course is a must for you.
